‘Barrel Monsters' Promote Highway Safety

Something interesting is coming to one of North Texas' busiest highways.

In light of Safety Week 2016, 35Express Project will unveil Wednesday their 2016 ‘Barrel Monster.’

It is the third year AGL Construction will display the sculptures made from recycled road construction barrels.

This year’s sculptures are a 15-foot ‘Frankenbarrel’ and a larger than life sized turkey.

The sculpture will be placed along Interstate 35E between US Highway 380 and Interstate 635 to remind drivers to slow down and not use cell phones while driving through work zones.

Kimberly Sims, with the 35Express Project, said in 2015 there were 21,000 incidents in work zones on Texas roads.
