2 Teens Charged in Slaying of Central Texas Man

Two teenagers have been charged in the slaying of a 69-year-old Central Texas man whose body was found at his home in Canyon Lake.

The Comal County Sheriff's Office says 19-year-old Austin Byrom and 18-year-old Skyler Burghart were being held Sunday on murder charges. Both were arrested Friday night in Corpus Christi, nearly 200 miles away.

Sheriff's Capt. Mark Reynolds says the teens are in a relationship. Reynolds declined to comment on any relationship between the suspects and the victim, James Carrol Spencer. No cause of death has been released for Spencer, who was found dead on New Year's Day.

Nueces County jail records show bond of $100,000 each for Byrom and Burghart. Reynolds had no information on attorneys for the pair, who face being returned to Comal County.
