2 Survive Helicopter Crash in Brazoria County, Cause Sought

Investigators say two people have been hurt in a helicopter crash southwest of Houston.

The Brazoria County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened Monday afternoon off County Road 233.

The chopper went down in a field close to the Brazoria County Military Museum near Angleton and caught fire. The Texas Department of Public Safety says investigators are looking at possible mechanical failure.

Officials say the 52-year-old pilot Ed Faris was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening. The passenger, 34-year-old Terry Claessen, was treated at the scene.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the helicopter is owned by the Military Museum of Texas.
