2 DFW ‘Hoods Make National Safest List

Westgrove, West Byer rank among ‘Safest Neighborhoods in America’

Seems like only a month ago we were talking about a neighborhood in Fort Worth that ranked among the most dangerous in the United States, according to NeighborhoodScout. Oh, it was just a month ago.

Well, let’s take this one in the opposite direction. WalletPop, the same outfit that commissioned NeighborhoodScout to compile the list of most dangerous American neighborhoods, just released what it calls the list of “Safest Neighborhoods in America’s Top Cities 2010.” We’re all about equal time here.

Well sir, Dallas and Fort Worth landed neighborhoods on the list, the Westgrove Drive area of Dallas and the West Byer section of Fort Worth.

In fact, Texas placed five cities on the list -- Austin, Houston, and San Antonio rounding out the states’ representatives -- the most of any state in the Union. Must be that concealed-carry license thing.

Bruce Felps owns and operates East Dallas Times, an online community news outlet serving the White Rock Lake area. He just feels safer knowing that a Dallas neighborhood, where the median home value is $719,359, is on that list. He does not live in that neighborhood.
