2 Charged in Case of Slain Texas 14-Year-Old

Houston police have arrested and charged two people in connection to death of a 14-year-old boy whose body was found mutilated and left in the woods.

Twenty-two-year-old Jose Granados-Guevara was charged with murder in the Sept. 15 slaying of Jose Meraz. A 17-year-old was also arrested in the killing, but it is unclear if he has been charged. Both are being held without bond.

Police said the suspects killed Meraz by striking and stabbing him with a machete. His body was found by a man walking his dog near the Addicks Reservoir.

A police spokesman said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible.

Online jail records did not list an attorney for Granados-Guevara.
