2 Arrested after SWAT Standoff: Fort Worth Police

Police arrested a man and a woman around 4:20 a.m. in Fort Worth Saturday after a SWAT standoff that lasted several hours.

Police said that Julio Ceasar Garcia, 24, and Kimberly Hernandez, 20, began committing several robberies in the area Friday night.

During the first offense, Garcia robbed an elderly woman and her disabled daughter at a 7-11 at 6100 S Hulen Street, police say. Hernandez was driving the green car that they used to flee.

Later, police say that Garcia robbed and beat a 13-year-old boy outside of a convenience store at 110 W Drew Street.

Moments later, they robbed a 14-year-old boy at 1300 W Waggoman, police say. A relative nearby saw, and Garcia attempted to stab the relative with a knife and beat him. The boy was transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. The relative had non-life threatening injuries and was treated on scene.

Police say that around 9 p.m., Hernandez was getting into the car in the Hulen Mall parking lot with Garcia. A victim reported that one of them had a gun and has attempted to take a purse. The victim tried to drive away dragging Garcia and hit several cars in the parking lot.

Patrol officers spotted the green car in the 4200 block of Standish Road and followed the car for about two blocks. At this time, Garcia fled from the car. He ran into a house in the 4200 block of Standish Road.

Officers knocked on the door and found the resident under duress. Officers took the resident from his home after he said that a man who did not live there had come into his house.

Police surrounded the house and robbery detectives were called to the scene. Detectives determined Garcia's identity at that time. SWAT then arrived on the scene. After a several hour standoff, Garcia was heard calling out from under the house. He was stuck in a crawl space and had to be freed by SWAT team members.

Garcia was questioned by robbery detectives and arrested for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. Hernandez, the driver of the green car was also arrested for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

Detectives are continuing the investigation and anticipate additional charges to be filed.
