18 Students Injured in Houston School Bus Crash: Report

A school bus containing East Texas high school students on a field trip collided with a semitrailer on a Houston freeway, injuring 18 students.

A Houston Fire Department statement says the 18 Cleveland High School students aboard the bus were between the ages of 13 and 16 and were taken to hospitals as a precaution.

There were 20 to 30 students aboard the bus.

The accident happened about 2:30 p.m. on U.S. 59/Eastex Freeway near Bush Intercontinental Airport.

Cleveland Assistant Superintendent Barbara Shaw says the bus was returning members of the Cleveland High School Air Force Junior ROTC from a NASA field trip when the crash happened.
