Thirteen of the 14 defendants arrested in a multi-state dog fighting investigation have now filed court papers in Alabama saying they either want to plead guilty or enter a pretrial diversion program.
Donnie Anderson of Auburn filed court papers Friday in Montgomery saying he wants to plead guilty. Anderson was indicted last year on charges accusing him of organizing and sponsoring high-stakes dog fights in Lee and Macon counties from 2011 to 2013.
Ten others filed plea change paperwork earlier. Two other defendants are seeking entry into pretrial diversion programs, and one defendant is scheduled for trial in July.
The 14 were arrested after a four-year investigation that included the seizure of more than 400 pit bulls.
The investigation began in east Alabama and then expanded to Georgia, Mississippi and Texas.
