In His Own Words: Bob Crandall on Airport Security

Exclusive conversation with former AMR CEO

As CEO of AMR Corp., the parent company of American Airlines, Robert Crandall built the Fort Worth-based company into what became the world's largest airline at the time.

Under Crandall's direction, American revolutionized how tickets were priced and sold and created one of the world's first frequent flier programs.

Today in retirement, Crandall is a sharp and informed critic of much of what's happening in the industry he used to lead. He has argued that the government should reregulate airlines, and he's spoken out against the megamerger strategy that has created a smaller number of giant airline companies.

Crandall recently agreed to sit down recently with NBC DFW for a series of unedited conversations covering some of the biggest issues in the airline business today.

In this segment, Crandall talks about the current state of airport security and whether it's really keeping us safe.
