Police Call Off Search For Boy's Body

Police called off search due to "weather conditions"

On Sunday, Dallas police called off the Ellis County search for the remains of 11-year-old Johnathan Ramsey.

"The department has called off the search for Johnathan Ramsey," Dallas police said in a statement. "Previous weather conditions and dense terrain conditions have made the search difficult. At this time we can not say when the search will resume."

Police were alerted to the case on Friday when Ramsey's grandfather asked officers to look into the welfare of his grandson.

Detectives determined the child was deceased and may have died between six months to a year ago.

Police arrested the child's father, 34-year-old Aaron Ramsey and his stepmother, 32-year-old Elizabeth Ramsey.  They could face a charge of injury to a child, felony one.

Johnathan Ramsey's grandmother told NBC 5 that she loved her grandson and that he was a sweet young boy.

On Saturday, Dallas police, Ellis County Sheriff's Deputies and the Federal Bureau of Investigation searched an area in Ellis County for the child’s remains.
