100 Attend Vigil for 5 Teens Killed in West Texas Crash

Members of a rural Panhandle community are praying for five teenagers killed last weekend in a car crash.

The Amarillo Globe-News reports that more than 100 people attended a candlelight vigil at the courthouse in Dumas, north of Amarillo. The teens were killed Sunday in a fiery wreck near Dumas when the driver ran a stop sign and collided with a fuel tanker.

The driver of the tanker remains in critical condition.

Pastor Frank Gordoa of Cornerstone Church says the deaths have shaken the entire local community.

Killed were Jacob Paul Stipe, 16, of Sunray, Derrek Lee Hager and Christopher Lee Moore, both 17 and from Sunray, and October Dawn Roys, 17, and her younger sister, Elizabeth Kay Roys, 15.
