Women such as the owner of a North Texas gymnastics program are finding creative ways to balance the demands of work and family.

Kali Wheeler started Just 4 Flips, a mobile gymnastics program that teaches at day cares, in 2007.

"We started with one facility, and then it kind of snowballed into five and then 10, and now we have about 35 facilities, and we're all over the Metroplex.

Wheeler does most of the work from home while her staff of five instructors actually teach the classes.

"I definitely wanted to stay home more and be able to have more of a flexible schedule," she said.

Wheeler started Just 4 Flips before her daughter, Adalyn, was born. But all the benefits of running a home-based business can also be the challenges, she said.

"It's tough. Whenever she's crying, or I need to get things done at a certain time, I sometimes can't because she needs my attention, so I just kind of have to plan around her schedule," Wheeler said.
