Background info for those who do not know: Dallas PD officer gives lady tickets for illegal u-turn, driving without a license and being a non English speaking driver. The rookie officer obviously made a mistake with the last ticket eventhough it is part of the city code for commercial drivers. The Dallas PD dismisses all three tickets and issues and official apology to the driver, story over right? Wrong, driver wants and internal investigation of the handling of tickets issued to non English spreaking drivers, another more public apology and money for pain and suffering. I think it absurd for this lady to sue the police department for what it basically comes down to a clerical error. I am also appalled the former mayor Pro Tem Domingo Garcia is her attorney. Why would a former public servant take on another public service entity in a case that is clearly not a descrimination case but a personal attack due to embarrassment. If she racked up $3000-$5000 in medical bills because she was worried about the tickets that is a personal problem not a police problem. She would not have gotten tickets in the first place if she was rushing to drop off her daughter at school late and making an illegal u-turn and driving without a license. Which I pose the question would she still be suing the Dallas police if these were the only two tickets issued. This lady reminds of kids in the JH I work at that get caught doing something wrong then get made at the teacher for catching them in the act.
