Weatherford Pot Plants Are No Shrinking Violets

Investigators seize 10-foot tall marijuana plants growing in plain sight

The Parker County Sheriff's Department said investigators found 10-foot tall marijuana plants growing outside a Weatherford home.

Deputies said they seized 201 plants that were growing on a two-acre property in the 100 block of Horseshoe Trail. Investigators said the plants ranged in height from 4 feet to 10 feet.

The sheriff's department said investigators saw 36 marijuana plants growing in the mobile home's front yard when they came to interview the homeowner.

After executing a search warrant, investigators found a 3-year-old girl in the home with three people.

Weatherford police said the mobile home was "uninhabitable" and "unsanitary." Police Chief Mike Manning said investigators reported the home to Child Protective Services.

Drug paraphernalia, including scales, were also seized from the home, investigators said.

The sheriff's department said it is seeking warrants to charge the 58-year-old homeowner, a 47 year-old man and a 21-year-old man with possession of marijuana four ounces to five pounds.
