Fugitive Accused of Abandoning Daughter in Hotel

Dallas police say a convicted felon and wanted fugitive will soon be able to add a charge of child abandonment to his lengthy rap sheet.

Police said Jeffery Moody deserted his 7-year-old daughter at the Radisson Hotel and Suites near Dallas Love Field.

“She was devastated that she was left there by herself,” Senior Cpl. Janice Crowther said.

According to police, Moody woke his daughter in the middle of the night, saying someone was after him and they had to get out of room 1110.

“He takes off running, and this little girl takes off behind him," Crowther said. "Only she can't keep up and loses her father, and she’s in the hotel all alone."

According to the police report, the girl was left behind in a stairwell but managed to find one of the hotel's red emergency phones.

“She indicated that she had been left in the hallway by her father and she was looking for him and couldn’t find him,” said Sylvester Bowden, Radisson general manager.

Bowden said he gave child milk and a danish to calm her down.

”She was crying, and I told her, 'You are in good hands right now. We got the authorities coming, and they are going to take care of you,'” he said.

Police are trying to the find the girl's mother, who they believe lives in Allen.

Moody is wanted in both Collin and Dallas counties. He has been convicted of aggravated robbery.
