Have you ever driven past that tree on Interstate 30 between Beech Street and Oakland and wondered, 'What's the story?'
A new play opening at the Creative Arts and Theater Center in Arlington explains: It's a musical based loosely the book The Homeless Christmas tree and inspired by the life of Carla Christian. She was once homeless herself and decided to decorate that tree for others who suffered the same plight.
"She was a woman of strong beliefs, and when she wanted to do something she did it," said Jackie Holt, the actress who plays Carla.
Carla's Song opens in Arlington on Dec. 4 and runs through the following weekend. Click here for a complete list of showtimes and ticket information.
