Fort Worth police said Monday that forensic evidence, witness testimonials and more led them to two teenage suspects in the slaying of a popular high school student.
Seventeen-year-old Eric Forrester was shot in the head one week ago in his southwest Fort Worth home when he walked in on two intruders when came home for lunch.
On Saturday, police arrested two 16-year-old boys in connection with the shooting death. Police have not released the names of the boys because of their age.
Investigators would not say if the two boys knew Forrester.
The teenagers appeared at a detention hearing in juvenile court Monday. The judge ordered them held without bail. Both boys were appointed attorneys.
The boys' parents declined to comment on the case.
Police had previously arrested and charged a 24-year-old man in Forrester's slaying. But police dropped capital murder charges against Bruce Terrell Rogers on Friday.

"It actually began as tip and, based on that and other information, it rose to the level of probable cause," Sgt. Chad Mahaffey said. "An arrest warrant was sought and obtained and issued by a judge. We made the arrest. Now, in any arrest, that is a tool to progress the case forward and obtain additional information."
In a jailhouse interview Thursday, Rogers denied killing Forrester, saying he didn't know anything about the teenager.
Investigators said Rogers helped move the investigation forward. Police now say Rogers is no longer a person of interest in the case.
Funeral services for Forrester, an honors student and member of the swim team at Southwest High School, were held Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
