Mary Kay will kick off its one Million hours of service across the World this month.
Thousands of Mary Kay employees and their family members in more than 35 countries will lend their talents and donate one million hours of community service around the World.
Volunteers began arriving at various locations across the Metroplex, including the Family Gateway transitional housing center in Dallas, where they spent the morning helping the kids who live there, make Valentines day cards for mom.
Mom and resident Taylor Harrington said the Valentine's day card she will receive means a lot, "It means that someone is there and they have a gift for you and the gift is a sense of appreciation," said Harrington.
Harrington became unemployed after working as a legal secretary for 20 years, and said she is glad Family Gateway is there to help pick up the pieces. "We are in a stage in our life where what do we do now? This has ended we've lost homes we've lost cars so we're here," said Harrington.
Offering free food, shelter, education and bringing in volunteer groups like this one to provide activities for families. Mary Kay employees provided supplies and helped the kids at the center, make Valentine’s Day cards for mom's like Taylor, she said it meant a lot.
"This one token shows us yeah in doing the right thing, I'm not that lost my kids loves me," said Harrington. The service project brought out mothers and their children. Spokesperson Peggy Davidson says participating in the service project will teach her daughter Cara an important lesson.

"We know that to whom much is given, much is expected and I tried to teach my kids..we give back and that is what we do," said Davidson.
