Police said Tuesday that a group of masked men who have been robbing restaurants across Dallas and Garland is getting more violent.

Dallas police said the Halloween-masked robbers fired a shot at some of their victims Monday night. The men ambushed cooks in the kitchen of a popular Chinese buffet on Central Expressway and Meadow Road at about 6:30 p.m.

Police said one of the men fired a warning shot after one of the cooks treated the robbery as a joke. The bullet traveled through the kitchen wall and into the dining area of the restaurant.

Investigators said they suspect the group also robbed a nail salon and a check-cashing store in North Dallas earlier Monday.

No one has been seriously injured in the robberies.

Police said they believe the men are behind as many as eight business robberies since August, as well as dozens of individual robberies.

It’s hard to for the victims to give police a good description of the men, because their faces are covered.

Victims in Monday’s robberies said one of the men wore a witch mask and another had on a white-and-black cat mask.

In every case, they have used a small white car as a getaway vehicle.
