A school bus driver was fired after a bus carrying kids to Wylie East High School crashed into a house Tuesday morning.

Police said the driver was making a left-hand turn off Ann Street onto Winding Oak Drive at about 8:15 a.m. when she lost control of the bus and crashed through a fence and into the rear bedroom of a home.

“I heard it, and I felt it it -- kind of made the house shake a little bit,” said Donnie Finnie, who lives next door.

None of the 13 students on board were injured.

The bus driver had minor injuries. She was treated at a Richardson hospital and released.

The driver told investigators the accelerator pedal got stuck, Wylie police and school district officials said.

“That's definitely going to be part of the investigation, if there was a malfunction or something else,” Detective Venece Perepiczka said.

The driver, whose name has not been released, has worked for the Wylie Independent School District since 2006. District spokeswoman Susan Dacus said the driver was fired Tuesday after the district's preliminary investigation into the crash, but did not offer any specifics.

Earlier Tuesday, Dacus said the driver had a "clean driving record" and had not had previous problems.

The bus was purchased new in 2006.

District officials said regular maintenance records do not indicate any prior problems with the bus or its accelerator. A further review of the wreckage confirmed there was nothing mechanically wrong with the bus that should have caused the crash, the school district said.
