A man who truly tested the right to bare arms Thursday in the 3400 block of Marsalis in Oak Cliff wasn't handcuffed because he was in the buff.

The man wrecked his car then streaked through the area stark naked, Dallas police said.

"When he got out of his car he was already nude," said Sr. Cpl. Kevin Janse. "He was running from door-to-door, knocking on doors, trying to get into houses."

At one point, officers said the man even tried to steal a woman's car.

"He was actually arrested for getting in that lady's car and attempting to steal it," said Janse.

Officers did not arrest him, though, for indecent exposure.

"I think that's absolutely ridiculous," said Dallas resident Tanika Keys.  "It should be against the law to run around buck naked."

Mesquite resident Matthew Coker agreed.

"I don't think that's right," he said.

It turns out, flashing more than just a smile is not exactly a crime in the city of Dallas.

"Two things would have been necessary for that," said Janse.  "He would have had to intentionally been attempting to arouse or gratify another person, and then that person would have to file a complaint."

But just because one man got away with it doesn't mean others are racing to follow in his bare footsteps.

"I won't start walking around naked that's for sure," Keys said.  "So it won't change a thing."
