A teenage mother is facing charges of child endangerment and possession of marijuana.

Officers arrested 17-year-old Desiree Sandner on Tuesday, claiming she smoked marijuana in front of her infant son.

Sandner was a passenger in a Toyota Camry that was pulled over on a traffic stop on Tuesday. Officers said they saw her place a lit marijuana cigar on car's floorboard and smelled marijuana smoke.

Police said Sandner's 6-month-old son was in the back seat of the vehicle in a car seat that was too small for him and not properly secured to the car.

Desiree Sandner is facing drug and child endangerment charges.

The baby boy was transported to a local hospital for examination. He is in the care of Child Protective Services. A judge will determine if Sandner will lose custody of the child, CPS told the Dallas Morning News.

Investigators said CPS previously removed two older children from Sandner's custody.

Her premature twin daughters were taken away from her in 2007, the Dallas Morning News reported. CPS determined Sandner could not provide the girls with appropriate medical care, the newspaper reported.

The children's aunt and sister of their biological father has custody of the girls, KTVT-TV reported.

At the time of her arrest, officers learned Sandner is pregnant with another child.

The 16-year-old driver of the Camry was cited for driving without a license and released.
