Police Seek ID of Hit-And-Run Driver

Man who died in hit and run dragged 423 feet

Dallas police are asking for the public's help identifying a driver accused of hitting a man and then dragging his body more than 400 feet.

Carlos Ramirez Bartolo, 36, was crossing the street at about 9:40 p.m. Saturday in the 9700 block of Webb Chapel Road when he was struck, police said.

Witnesses told police that Bartolo originally landed on top of the vehicle and then rolled off in front of it when the car came to a stop. The suspect then fled the scene, running over Bartolo and dragging him for 423 feet.

Bartolo was transported to Parkland Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police said the suspect's vehicle is a small, red four-door sedan, likely with some damage to the windshield.

Anyone who has any information is asked to contact the Dallas Police Department's Vehicle Crimes Division at 214-671-0015 or the North Texas Crime Stoppers Tips Line at 1-877-373-TIPS (8477).
