Adult entertainment in Dallas is one industry that is definitely not going bust in the recession.

Dallas strip clubs said their clubs are filled with customers and job seekers. Craft said his clubs have been inundated with laid-off workers who never dreamed they'd work in the adult entertainment industry.

"In the past year, we've seen our applicant pool probably double," said Steve Craft, vice-president of Burch Management which owns at least five strip clubs in Dallas.

Because of the influx of applicants, Cabaret Royale will host a job fair on Wednesday.

Many North Texans who were stripped of their corporate jobs are turning to topless clubs for help, even if it's only for the short term, Craft said.

"Girls that worked for major corporations that now have become entertainers -- it's a short time deal but it helps them pay their mortgage until they can move on and try something else," Craft said.

Craft said people from all walks of life are swallowing their pride and coming to him looking for a steady paycheck.

"Corporate executives, people who worked for IBM, Fidelity Management -- they are coming in and looking for jobs," he said. "They have to pay mortgages and support families," Craft said.

Craft said there are plenty of jobs that don't involved removing clothing.

"We are hiring cooks, chefs, office and clerical personnel, waitresses, bartenders, hostesses, entertainers and managers," he said.

The Jobless to Topless Job Fair will be accepting applications for management, entertainers, waitresses, beer bar girls, door girls, bar back, bartenders, kitchen staff, DJs and hair and makeup specialists.

Craft anticipates the company will hire anywhere from 150 to 200 people.

The job fair will be at 10723 Composite Drive in Dallas from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday. People interested in attending can call 214-358-0055 for more information.
