Neighborhood parents object to the sexy dancing and skimpy outfits of the Cockrell Hill "beer babes" who stand outside beer shops to attract customers.

Scantily clad women serve up beer and wine to drive-through customers across the street from C.M. Soto Jr. Elementary.

"As a mother of two young daughters, I'm just really concerned about what my daughters are seeing," parent Michelle Jaramillo said.

She said she and her children see the women, who stand in front of beer barns along Jefferson Boulevard in the afternoons and early evenings, on their way home from school.

"A bikini swimsuit covers more than what they wear, basically," Jaramillo said.

Two women working at Ricky's Drive Thru disappeared and then returned in more conservative clothing when they spotted a television camera.

"I mean, this is something that you would see in a strip bar," Jaramillo said.

She said she has seen one beer babe hike her leg on a stool and then go all the way down to the floor.

"My daughter, she's seen it before," parent Yvette Salazar said. "She's like, 'Mom, look at those girls, they're dancing out there,'" Jaramillo said. "I'm just like, 'Yeah, don't look at them. Don't pay attention to them.'"

A Cockrell Hill ordinance requires any business that sells alcohol to be at least 300 feet from a school, a requirement the mayor said the beer barns meet.

"As long as they are abiding by the laws of the city, there is not a whole lot we can do," Mayor Luis Carrera said.

"It's really up to the businesses to conduct themselves in a manner that they feel is appropriate," he said.

The owner of Ricky's Drive Thru called police on a NBCDFW crew on Monday afternoon. He also said he doesn't believe his beer shop is doing anything inappropriate.

"I'm not asking them to get rid of the alcohol," Jaramillo said. "I'm asking them to clean the girls up, that's it."

Carrera said he plans to meet with school officials about the situation on Tuesday to see if something can be worked out.
