Homeowners in the Hillcrest Estates area say holiday Grinches are cutting the lights to their Christmas displays.

Frisco police say they've received numerous complaints, with most of the vandalism occurring overnight.

Most of the lights in people's elaborate displays are interconnected, so cutting one line can shut down an entire display.

Frisco resident Josh Murray transforms his yard every year into a moving, flashing musical tribute to Christmas. But his three-day labor of love turned dark with a snip.

"It's just pathetic when people do that kind of stuff this time of year," he said.

Vandals have even hit Murray's elderly neighbors.

"It makes you mad, that's the most honest way to put it," Murray said. "It makes you angry."

Delores Coleman said her house was one of the first on the block to start putting up displays.

"I've had four blowups slashed with knives," she said.

The number of displays is decreasing as people tire of building things for kids, only to see them destroyed.

But Coleman said that while it gets tougher each year, she's not giving up on her displays.

"We're not going to let them allow us not to do it," Coleman said. "We hope we never get to that point where we won't do it."

Much of the vandalism is blamed on kids' pranks, but rabbits also occasionally chew through electrical lines.
