Grapevine 911 Service Restored

City dispatch radio also affected

After nearly 42 hours, Grapevine residents once again have 911 service.

City officials haven't said what caused the outage, which also affected the central dispatch radio used to communicate between headquarters and officers in the field.

According to Lt. Todd Dearing, the circuits controlling the radios have been restored and the city has taken over management of radio dispatch from Euless -- who stepped in to assist in dispatching responders in Grapevine.

Radio service and 911 both went out at about 1 p.m. Friday.  During the outage, all available personnel were on the streets to ensure public safety and a speedier response time to emergency calls.

At about 8:30 a.m. Sunday, the cities other phone lines to the department, jail or courts were also once again working.

Officials with the city weren't sure when other lines in the city would be fixed.
