Good Samaritans, Teller Help Nab Bank Robbery Suspect

Arlington police said Thursday that two Good Samaritans helped a bank teller chase down a woman suspected of robbing two banks.

Kathiana Pierre, 22, is accused of robbing the Bank of America on Pioneer Parkway near Collins Street at about 10 a.m.

Michael Vasquez, who was standing at a nearby business, said he saw Pierre sprint by with a bag full of cash soon after the robbery.

"I put two and two together, and I figured they just got robbed," he said.

A bank teller wasn't far behind Pierre, Vasquez said.

"I saw the teller trying to run after her," he said. "She was wearing high heels, and I thought 'Man, she's not going to be able to run after this lady,' so I was like, 'Get in the car, and let's go get her.'"

Armed with a cell phone camera and a lot of courage, they took off with Vasquez' father behind the wheel.

They were on the phone with Arlington police the entire time.

Vasquez said they finally caught up to Pierre at a nearby shopping center.

"So I'm running this way thinking I'm going to have to tackle this woman," he said.  "As I run that way and get closer, a cop is coming up Collins, and he pulls in and has her at gunpoint."

Arlington police said Pierre is suspected in another robbery on Tuesday.

She is being held on $150,000 bail.
