Fed Funds for Dallas Programs

Several projects get big money from Uncle Sam.

Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson announced the awarding of federal funds for some Dallas projects.

"My first priority in Congress has always been to the people of my Congressional District," Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson said. "Each of these projects will help us make the 30th District an even better place to live and work than it is now."

DART will receive $87 million for the Northwest/Southeast light rail project. In addition, DART gets $950,000 to buy buses.

The Dallas Floodway Extension will receiver $13 million.

Dallas Achieves, a math, science and technology initiative gets $1.45 million to fund DISD academor programs.

The Dallas County Sheriff's department gets $100,000 for an automated fingerprint identification system.

The Phoenix House, a program dealing with adolescents seeking drug treatment will receive $500,000.

The Inland Port will receive $186,000 for job training in partnership with the University of North Texas-Dallas.

The City of Dallas Early Childhood and Family Literacy Programs get $214,000.

Science In The Next Generation gets $219,000 for science educators and the science academy program.
