A children's playground in Dallas has an unusual problem -- it's too hot.
It's too hot is a phrase often heard in North Texas during the summer months, but this reference to heat has to do with the temperature of the playground equipment and not just the summer sun.
Most of the equipment at the Main Street Garden toddler lot is made of polished stainless steel. The Dallas paper reports that on Friday, temperatures at a climbing wall measured 138 degrees while the mercury on a bouncing globe rose to 131 degrees.
With temperatures rapidly approaching triple-digit summer levels, those numbers on the playground are only going to get hotter, so the city is trying to figure out what they can do to fix the problem.
In the meantime, the city plans to post signs warning parents about the heat hazard until a resolution is in place.
