Here's a daily list of recent activities drawing the attention of North Texas law enforcement. List compiled on Nov. 4, 2009.

POLICE ARREST SUSPECT IN ART STUDENT'S SLAYING
A 26-year old man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the slaying of a an Art Institute of Dallas student. Samantha Nance was stabbed to death in her Lake Highlands apartment and was found Sept. 11. Daniel Willyam is the roommate of Nance's boyfriend, Nathan Shuck. Detectives said they searched Willyam's apartment and found a number of suspicious items that appeared to have dried blood on them. DNA test results revealed that the blood was Nance's. Police said there could be more arrests in the case.

2 INJURED IN APARTMENT COMPLEX FIRE
Two people suffered burn injuries Wednesday afternoon after an explosion at a Dallas apartment complex. When fire crews arrived at the complex in the 2500 block of east Illinois they could see flames shooting from the roof, officials said. Iinvestigators said the fire started when a gas leak led to an explosion in the boiler room. The force of the explosion blew out a wall and flames gutted the office and laundry room.

MAN PLEADS GUILTY IN TEEN'S HEROIN DEATH
A man pled guilty Wednesday to giving cheese heroin to a 16-year-old girl who died of an overdose in Sept. 2007. Victor Tellez was sentenced to 12 years in exchange for the plea. At least 32 Dallas County teenagers have died from cheese heroin since 2005, the Dallas Morning News reported.

POLICE SEARCH FOR "SPIDER-MAN" THIEVES
Police released surveillance photos of two armed people who allegedly donned Spider-Man costumes to rob a Southlake bank last Friday. The pair entered the Bank of America in the 2000 block of West Southlake Boulevard at about 9:30 a.m. and demanded money from a teller, employees told police. They then fled in a dark blue or purple minivan, which had a broken rear window and no front license plate. Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 817-989-3330.

DALLAS POLICE SEARCH FOR MISSING MAN
A search for a missing man was under way Wednesday at a creek near the 2800 block of North Buckner, Dallas police said. A witness told police that the man was involved in an altercation Monday and after shots were fired he was last seen running into an area near the creek. His family filed a missing person report Tuesday and the creek search began after the man's jacket was found partially submerged on Wednesday.

MAN ARRESTED AFTER 3-HOUR FBI STANDOFF
A man was arrested Wednesday after a 3-hour standoff with FBI agents at the Churchill Crossing Apartments in Mesquite, officials said. It started after the man refused to come out after agents knocked on his door in the 3700 block of Gus Thomasson. When he finally surrendered he was taken into custody for violating immigration laws, FBI officials said.
