Daily Police Blotter: Truck Slams Into Restaurant

Here's a daily list of recent activities drawing the attention of North Texas law enforcement. List compiled on Oct. 28, 2009.

TRUCK SLAMS INTO KAUFMAN RESTAURANT
A pickup truck crashed into the El Mexicano Taqueria at 1500 S. Washington St. in Kaufman just before the lunchtime rush Wednesday. The truck veered off the road, clipped another vehicle and then crashed into the restaurant's kitchen just before noon. Three employees were transported to a Dallas hospital, along with the driver of the pickup truck. Click here to read this story on NBCDFW.com.

DRUG DEALER HANDED LIFE SENTENCE FOR CO-ED'S DEATH
A convicted drug dealer found responsible for the death of an SMU co-ed will spend the rest of his life in prison. James McDaniel, 48, was sentenced to life in prison with no parole for his role in the death of 21-year-old Meaghan Bosch. Bosch died in 2007 from lethal doses of cocaine, methamphetamine and oxycodone, official said. Click here to read this story on NBCDFW.com.

NEIGHBORS WITNESS WOMAN ENGULFED IN FLAMES
A 58-year-old woman was killed in an apartment fire in Dallas, despite attempts from her neighbors to save her. Neighbors unsuccessfully tried to get into the apartment as Linda Gadd was engulfed in flames on the balcony of her second-story apartment. Steve Owen, a rock climber, climbed up and extinguished the fire after hearing screams at about 9 p.m. No one else was injured in the fire. Neighbors said Gadd is survived by two grown sons. CLEBURNE SCHOOLS PLACED ON LOCKDOWN
Smith Middle School in Cleburne was placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon after a report from two students that there was a weapon on campus. The School Resource Officer called additional officers to search the campus. Officers searched the campus, but nothing was found. Gerard Elementary School, which is located near the Smith Campus, was also placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure. For a brief period of time this morning, School Resources Officers placed all district campuses on lockdown. Those lockdowns have been canceled.

POLICE SEARCHING FOR MAN IN CONNECTION WITH CVS ROBBERY
Dallas police are searching for a man caught on surveillance video robbing a CVS pharmacy on the 10000 block of Garland Road. According to police, the man can be seen leaning over the counter and threatening the cashier. The cashier could be seen opening the cash drawer and the man left soon after. Police are searching for a gold, four-door 1993 Lexus with Texas plates MWM-345 -- which is reported to be a stolen vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. N. Walton at (214) 671-3643.

DOMINOES PIZZA DRIVER ROBBED, PIZZA & CASH STOLEN
A Dominoes pizza driver was robbed while delivering a pizza near Fisher Avenue and Judkins Street in Fort Worth on Tuesday. The driver said he was approached by three men who attacked him with a golf club and a bat.  The homeowner, expecting a pizza, walked outside, saw the attack and scared off the driver's attackers. The men got away with the pizza and the driver's money. The driver suffered a cut to his leg.
