BOY DIES WHILE PLAYING IN SAND TRUCK
Twelve-year-old Edwin Gomez died Friday after being pulled to the bottom of a load of sand in the back of a truck, Star-Telegram.com reports. Gomez and his 8-year-old brother were at a relative’s house in the 100 block of Coronado Bend Drive in Azle when they decided to climb into the back of a truck that was being used to install a swimming pool, according to Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler. Both Edwin and his brother were dug out of the sand after workers noticed the hose was clogged. The boys were taken to Cook Children’s Medical Center where Edwin was pronounced dead, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.
MAN SHOT, KILLED AT HIS HOME
A homeowner was shot and killed Friday when three armed men showed up at his backdoor in the 1400 block of Reynoldston Lane in Dallas, according to an officer from the scene. At least one other person was in the house but escaped uninjured through a window. The men involved in the shooting are still at large. Officers also found drugs inside the home.
ROLLOVER WRECK ON I35
Two cars were involved in a rollover wreck Saturday on northbound 35E at Oak Lawn. One car hit the guardrail and went over. Everyone involved suffered non life-threatening injuries.
DRIVE-THROUGH BANDIT STILL ON THE LOOSE
The Dallas drive-through bandit struck on Friday at the Super Amigos in southeast Dallas at the corner of Military Parkway and Jim Miller. The bandit is believed to be the responsible for approximately eight offenses. Read more here.
