Vandals tore through at least three East Dallas neighborhoods late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, damaging more than two dozen vehicles.

According to Dallas police reports, more than 25 cars were damaged in the Lakewood, Forest Hills and Belmont neighborhoods.

Mac Ruderer, an accounting student at Southern Methodist University, found the windshield of his black Infiniti shattered when he went to get a textbook out of his car.

Neighbor Keith Harrigan also found a brick near his sport utility vehicle, which was parked in front of his home on Vanderbilt Drive.

"I didn't think this would happen in this neighborhood," he said.

Harrigan's new car now needs a new bumper.

Betty Franzl's white sedan needs a new rearview mirror. Franzl spotted the damage on her way to a doctor's appointment Wednesday morning.

"I'm kind of disgusted that people would do that," she said.

No one in the more than two dozen damage reports filed reported anything stolen.

"I had my iPod in there and a new pair of Nike shoes; they just left it all," Ruderer said.

Dallas police suggested residents park their vehicles in garages instead of out on the street.
