Bell Workers to Vote on New Contract

Nearly 2,500 Bell Helicopter manufacturing workers will vote Wednesday on a new contract that would end their five-week strike at several Dallas-Fort Worth area plants.
A new offer was presented Tuesday after Bell and United Auto Workers Local 218 representatives negotiated for a fifth time since the strike began in mid-June.
Bell spokesman Tom Dolney said he couldn't provide details on the new contract proposal until after the vote.
In mid-June, union members rejected a three-year contract because of proposed increases in medical costs and plans to outsource janitors' work. That vote led to the strike at several Dallas-Fort Worth area plants.
Union leaders had recommended approval of the first contract.
