A North Texas hospital is using art to lift the spirits of sick children.
Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth takes canvases to patients' rooms, allowing them to paint while they undergo treatment.
The hospital's creative arts director, Shannon Jones, said it gives the patients a chance to be creative in a life where so many decisions are made for them.
"They don't have any choices. They have to do their medicines. They have to come to the hospital. They're sick," said Jones.
"But when they paint, they get to see what they want to see on that paper, on that canvas. They get to creative and be wishful and hopeful," said Jones.
The creative arts program at Cook Children's Medical Center also offers music therapy.
