A search was under way Monday for a man who attacked two women with a knife before robbing them, Lewisville police said.

The first attack happened on the 2000 block of South Old Orchard Lane. The man jumped on a jogger, threatened her with a knife, then dragged her into ditch near the jogging trail where she had been running, police said. The victim fought the attacker and screamed for help.

Dana O'Neil, whose home is near the jogging trail, said she heard the cries for help as she walked to her car to go to work.

"It was,'Help me! Help me!' You could tell something was wrong.  It wasn't just , 'I've fallen. I've tripped.' It was, 'Something's wrong,'" said O'Neil.

She said she called 911 and then saw a man run into a dark colored car and take off.

Less than an hour later, a man parked next to a woman at an apartment complex at 202 E. Oak Knoll Circle, then waited for her to walk to an apartment before attacking her, police said. The man stole her wallet, but the victim fought back, taking his knife before he ran away, police said.

Witnesses at the apartment complex told police the last three digits of the suspect's license plate, which were 675. The vehicle is described as a dark colored, compact car, possibly a Toyota.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sgt. Mike Wragg at 972-219-3624.
