An administrive law judge on Friday recommended that Six Flags over Texas and its Hurricane Harbor waterpark be allowed to sell alcohol.

A judge recommended the parks be awarded licenses to sell alcohol. The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission will decide if  the permits are approved or denied.

"We are pleased with the ruling from Judge Tanya Cooper," said Six Flags spokeswoman Sharon Parker. "This is a service many of our guests have requested and one that we'll be able to offer this season."

Parker said the park expects to sell beer when it opens for the 2009 season.

The park's plan was protested by Arlington Mayor Robert Cluck and others, who argued alcohol and young children aren't a good mix.

In his decision, the judge said the protests were understandable, but didn't rise to the level of rejecting the park's application.

The final decision is up to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, but a TABC spokeswoman noted the agency rarely goes against the judge's recommendations.
