A Fort Worth church is back in service two years after a devastating tornado.

On Sunday,  Valley Missionary Baptist Church held its first service in the sanctuary since that storm.

"I feel so good today. I feel so good standing there and holding the door," said Ruth Dickens, usher. "I really do, it's a proud proud feeling."

For some, the tornado actually helped the congregation form a stronger bond.

"We were OK with what we had, but then, we had a reason, there was a reason to come closer," said Dickens

Members said the community also played a big part in getting the church back in service.

Dallas design team The Beck Group rebuilt the church at a reduced cost.

The city also chipped in to keep utility costs down.

The April 2007 storm peeled off much of the church's roof, and blew out many of the walls.
