4 Injured in Wise Co. Plane Crash

Four men were injured Tuesday after a twin-engine airplane crashed north of Fort Worth in Wise County, said Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Roland Herwig.

The Beechcraft King Air plane was en route to Fort Worth's Meacham International Airport from Okalahoma City when the pilot told air traffic controllers that both engines had failed, FAA officials said. The plane disappeared from the radar at about 2:45 p.m. as it went down in Aurora, six miles from Kenneth Copeland Airport , officials said.

Chopper 5 video showed the plane lying in a field near County Road 4227 and Currie Road with a missing left wing and crumbled nose.

Ambulances transported the four men to Fort Worth hospitals, two who were in critical condition, where transported via air ambulance, Herwig said. One was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital and the other one was taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital. The other two men were reported to have non-life-threatening injuries.

The plane is registered to RJ Schumacher Oil, a private utility company located in Fort Worth, TX. The company also does business as Texland Great Plains Water LLC.

Aurora is about 30 minutes north of Fort Worth.
