Ten Mesquite ISD schools were locked down Friday morning after a shooting during a bank robbery left two bank employees injured.

The robbery happened at 9:30 a.m. at the Compass Bank in the 3100 block of North Galloway Avenue. The robber only fired one shot, but the bullet hit two women, Mesquite police said. One victim was hit in the leg and the bullet grazed the other victim's head, police said.

Both workers were in stable condition at a hospital, Compass Bank spokesman Ed Bilek said. He wasn't aware of other injuries.

Police asked area schools to be locked down as a precaution, Mesquite police dispatcher Lisa Walvel said. The lock down was lifted before noon.

The robber is described as a black male in his 30s with an average build. He was wearing a backpack, black cap, black shirt, black pants, had a bandage on his nose and used a chrome plated handgun, police said.

Dispatchers received numerous calls from residents claiming they saw the bandit.

A five thousand dollar reward is out for the robber.
