Officials with the City of Plano said the patient was a woman in her 40s who had received the flu shot and who had an underlying health condition.

County officials said the woman died on Jan. 11. Per privacy concerns, further information about the woman is not expected to be released.

As of this writing there have been 38 confirmed flu-related deaths in North Texas including 26 in Dallas County, five in Tarrant County, four in Denton County, two in Collin County and one in Hunt County. There is also one possible flu-related death in Wise County.

With the flu season not expected to peak until February, health officials continue to urge those who have not yet received the flu vaccine to get one.
