Doctors, insurers and small business owners gathered in Dallas on Wednesday to discuss alternatives to the democratic healthcare reform options currently being debated in congress.

The round table was sponsored by the Texas Public Policy Foundation. The group rejects the notion that Obama's 'public option' will create competition and keep insurance companies honest.

"It always leads to healthcare rationing, higher costs. It never results in greater access to care or improved care," says Arlene Wohlgemuth, Senior Research Fellow with The Texas Public Policy Foundation.

Healthcare makes up 1/6th of the U.S. economy. The group says with so much at stake, all options should be carefully explored.
