Test Can Catch Signs of Heart Disease Early

A test offered by a Dallas clinic can help people identify who are at risk for heart disease.

Heart disease and stroke kill one of every 2.6 women who die, compared to the one in 30 women who die of breast cancer.

But there are ways to reduce your risk. Doctors recommend that every woman should have a complete heart health checkup. And many doctors say that check-up should include an MDCT scan, which shows any plaque buildup in arteries leading to the heart.

The Cooper Clinic in Dallas was one the first to use the MDCT heart scan. Although it is now widely available, it is not routinely used.
