Grand Prairie Woman Reveals How She Lost Half Her Size

People Magazine is putting the spotlight on a 40-year-old Grand Prairie woman who whittled her 5-foot-3 inch frame down to 140 pounds from 305 pounds, the Dallas Morning News reports.

Lessie Alvarado is featured in People's "Half Their Size" cover story this month.

The 41-year-old bank manager said she dropped the pounds the old fashioned way: exercising regularly and eating right.

"I look at myself now and say, 'Yeah, I did it.' But I don't want to go back. I don't want to be that person again. I know that this is a lifetime transformation, and it's something I want to do every day for the rest of my life," Alvarado tells the Dallas Morning News.

She said the determination to lose the weight came after an embarrassing incident on an amusement park ride.
