The Dallas County Health Department has run out of FluMist.

The DCHHS announced its supply of the nasal spray flu vaccine  for children had been depleted by Thursday.

There has been a jump in the need for the seasonal flu vaccine because of a recent spike in the number of cases of the flu around North Texas.

“As we continue through flu season, parents may have some difficulty finding seasonal flu vaccine for their children,” said DCHHS Director Zachary Thompson.

The county is expected to receive more injectable seasonal flu vaccine for children, however, it is not clear when the next shipment will arrive.

As soon as more injectable seasonal flu vaccine for children is available, DCHHS will announce its availability to the public.

The seasonal flu vaccine does not protect against the H1N1 virus.
