Dallas County offers H1N1 flu shots at 100 pharmacies

Swine flu shots will be available for people in certain target groups at 100 pharmacies in Dallas County beginning Wednesday.

The Dallas County Health Department gave 16,000 doses of the vaccine to Walgreens, Tom Thumb, Kroger and Walmart stores.

Only certain locations have the shots. The complete list is available on the Dallas County Web site.

The target groups include pregnant women, anyone 6 months to 22 years old, caregivers of babies younger than 6 months old and people 25 through 64 with underlying health conditions.

Dallas Co. Pharmacies to Offer Swine Flu Vaccine

In Tarrant County, flu shots will be available on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Resource Center in southeast Fort Worth.

Also, the health department will offer the vaccines at seven public health clinics beginning Friday.

Area health departments expect thousands more doses to arrive soon and plan to offer them to people outside the target groups in the next several weeks.

So, I DO plan on getting the shot for the health of my unborn children (yes 2), but now I have to pay for it too!! Have your loved ones ask their insurance company first if they have Medicare Part B, because Secure Horizon WONT pay for it, but will reimburse at some later time. Be smart about washing your hands and keeping them away from your face. Take some probiotics, maybe throw in some elderberry(studies show it cuts the symptoms down to around 3 days on average. Tamiflu only reduces it to 7 days on average. It's also a good preventative), eat healthy, and exercise. Is there a chance you still may get the flu? Yes, but that risk is still there with the vaccine. We have been exposed to the swine flu at least 3 times and with healthy habits we have been blessed to not have had even so much as a runny nose. Those that did get the flu said that it was milder than the regular flu and in some cases they had no symptoms other than a low grade fever. This is really not the big deal that everyone is making it out to be. Every year somewhere around 30,000 people die from the regular flu. If you were following doctor's orders, you would be in bed and not exposed to the public. Instead you are running all over looking for a vaccine instead of staying in bed where you belong. And quit whining about having to pay $18 for it, I would gladly pay that if I was allowed to get it, but I'm not in one of those "special" groups that get to choose whether to get it.
