The CDC reports 46 people die every day from prescription pain killer overdoses despite an increase in public awareness about opioid abuse. Many doctors and patients are looking for drug-free alternatives to pain management, and one of those alternatives could be at the chiropractor's office. According to the American Chiropractic Association, the ACA will launch a campaign to promote alternative approaches to pain management in the face of the U.S. opioid epidemic.

The theme and hashtag #Chiropractic1st is meant to encourage the public to explore conservative forms of treatment such as chiropractic before moving on to riskier, potentially addictive pain medications, according to the ACA.

Dr. Brandon Wilson, of North Texas Spinal Health and Wellness, talks about how chiropractic care can help patients with pain management.
