Carter BloodCare was notified by the blood program in Corpus Christi and by hospitals partners in Houston that Hurricane Harvey is very likely to interfere with collections from their blood donors for several days.
Patients will still require transfusion support.
There will also be an increase in local demand, as patients are evacuated to hospitals in North Texas.
"We know that our local need will increase because of those patients, so we need a little extra to help those folks who are coming to the area," says Linda Goezler, of Carter BloodCare.
