Alfalfa Sprouts Recalled

Show signs of Salmonella

Green Valley Food Corp. of Dallas, Texas is voluntarily recalling 650 cases of Alfalfa sprouts.

The testing of a 5 oz. container of "Let's Grow Healthy Together!" Alfafalfa Sprouts showed signs of Salmonella contamination.

The recalled sprouts are listed as follows:

"Let's Grow Healthy Together!" Alfalfa Sprouts 5 oz. containers with the UPC number 714722228818
"Let's Grow Healthy Together!" Spicy Sprouts 5 oz. containers with the UPC number 71472222991
Alfalfa Sprouts 4oz. clamshell UPC number 815098001088
"100% Natural Onion Sprouts" 4oz. clamshell UPC number 815098002054


The company said the sprouts affected in the recall were distributed to retail grocery stores and food distribution centers throughout Texas. They encourage consumers to throw out any listed items purchased or received after Dec. 7, 2011 and before Jan. 1, 2012.   

No cases of Salmonella have been reported.

NBC 5 reached out to Green Valley Food Corp., but they declined to comment on which distribution centers received the sprouts.
